Spirits Institute Puget Sound, or SIPS, is a non-profit educational organization. SIPS has unveiled an ever-expanding curriculum, additional presenters (including a federal alcohol inspector emeritus) and continuing guidance for aspiring craft distillers well after the week-long SIPS class concludes.
{ NEW CONTENT! }
Heating choices
Sensory evaluation
Pumps, hoses and fittings
Innovations in spirits maturation
In-depth immersion into batch distillation
Filtration in theory and in practice
Remaining ever-progressive as new content gets added to each session, the other exciting aspect of SIPS Class is its venue. Previously held at community colleges with a distillery field-trip on Day 5, the new workshop places itself centrally within a distillery environment for the duration of the class, that is, all five days!
The host facility for SIPS classes is XO Alambic, an artisan spirits producer that welcomes SIPS with their elegantly pro-portioned stillhouse and tasting room, providing SIPS with a generously appointed classroom. Their 2000-litre Figgins Reciprocatorâ„¢ still and highly popular location have created a real stir in craft distilling circles!
